About this activity

Chester Zoo is considered one of THE best zoos in the entire UK, so of course it needs to be on your list when looking at the best things to do in Chester with the family!

Guess how many animals you'll find at Chester Zoo? Just guess? What if we told you that the zoo is home to 35,000 animals, from all over the word? Pretty amazing, huh!?

There are so many beautiful creatures that kids can come face to face with, and mix that with the 128 acres of zoological gardens that you can enjoy too, you'll agree that there is plenty to do at Chester Zoo!

Have you ever seen a grand lion face to face, or see playful penguins play? Kids, do you know what an Anoa is? You can find out at Chester Zoo!

From the creepy yet beautiful bird-eating tarantulas, to the cheeky Capybaras and majestic cheetahs, from the weird and the wonderful, the beautiful and the inspiring, the animals of the world are waiting to say hello!

Don't forget to check out the extra experiences at the zoo that you can add on to your ticket to make it a richer experience. You can dine with the animals, learn about the secret life of behind the scenes, and enjoy individual animal experiences to really get to know a species!

Chester Zoo is also commited to conservation and ending extinctions, so not only can kids learn about the animals but they can learn the important lesson of WHY we need to look after these beautiful creatures and our planet!

It's time to get WILD! Let's go!

Directions

You’ll see lots of signposts on the main roads around Chester. If you’re visiting us via motorway, follow the signs to Chester until you see the brown tourist zoo signs.

Once you get onto the A41, stay on that road until you reach a roundabout with signs for Chester Zoo. Sat navs often get confused so please ignore them once you get onto the A41. Please note: Don’t turn down Flag Lane North as it’s a dead end.
