About this activity

The Port Sunlight Museum tells the story of William Lever and his visiion for creating a village for workers at his Sunlight Soap factory. You'll discover how the village has developed over the years and the changing working and living conditions for the workers.

Did you know that Ringo Starr has his first performance with the Beatles in the village in 1962? The museum is filled with stories and nostalgia that provides a great educational day out for the whole family. From film sows, interactive boards, models and objects, there's something to explore around every corner.

As part of your admission, you'll also get the chance to step inside a worker's cottage and experience everyday life in Edwardian times. The cottage is right next to the museum and the volunteers are on hand to greet you and answer any questions you may have.

You can also enjoy a guided walking tour for 90 minutes as you're taken around Port Sunlight Village. You'll find out interesting facts about the architecture and hear all of the stories about village life from past and present.

There's also a brand-new family experience, designed to encourage children to engage with STEM subjects. Explore why we need soap, how it's made ad all the different ways to use it. It's in the village's historic school room, The Lyceum, and it's a great interactive family experience for all ages. You'll get access to this area if you book the experience package.
