Castle Espie Wildfowl Centre is a wonderful day for a family day out! Get closer to spring wildlife and feel renewed and refreshed by the vibrant energy of their wetlands!
With wide-open spaces and wetlands full of the sights and sounds of nature, there's plenty to see and do. WWT Castle Espie is home to the largest collection of ducks, geese and swans in Ireland, so why not head there and see what you can spot? As well as this, The Graffan Gallery at Castle Espie is Ireland’s only environmental art-space. The Graffan Gallery is a well respected exhibition space for a variety of high quality artistic endeavours. One of the aims of the gallery is to encourage fresh talent and bring new work to the fore - housing many exhibitions throughout the year from artists, photographers, crafts and sculpture!
Wildwood is a dream come true for children and grown-ups alike. Castle Espie’s woodland natural play area is a novelty for children and takes older children right back to their childhood and den-building days. The area is also ideal for picnics with its natural shade provided by native deciduous trees and its ample wildlife. Also make sure you check out the climbing wall and secret swamp, which is perfect for the extra adventurous.
There are friendly wardens around to answer any questions about the wildlife as well as an exhibition area! So what are you waiting for?
