About this activity

Belfast Zoo has over 500 animals and more than 110 species to explore! The zoo is set on 55 acres and there's everything you need to have a fun day out to remember. As well as the animas they have play areas for children too and is a must visit if you're in the area.

The animals are mostly endangered or extict in the wild and the zoo protects animals from extinction. On your visit you'll see mammals such as the Andean bear, lions, sea lions, elephants, chimpanzees and many more.

There are also reptiles such as the turtle, iguanas, snakes and native species such as the red squirrel, wildcats, hedgehogs and more.

They have daily feeding and talks too and you'll learn all about the animals. Make sure to check out when the feeding times are so you don't miss out!

As well as the animals they have a large play park with lots of fun activities. There are tunnels, snake island, crocodile creek and more and there are picnic benches nearby so you can rest and play.

They also offer a free audio tour for you to learn about the zoo's history and the species too!

If you have an animal lover, then there are lots of experience days!

For the kids, there are junior keeper days where you can be a real life zookeeper for the day and see what goes on behind the scenes at the zoo. You'll even get the chance to get up close and personal with some of your favourite animals too.
