The University of Oxford Botanic Garden is the oldest botanic garden in the UK, and is home to over 5,000 different plant species. It's a must visit if you're in the are and provides lots of family activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Explore the wonders of the plant world at the botanic gardens. For families, there are lots of trails for all ages groups.! There is a winter wonders trail which is suitable for children aged five to nine and you'll spot the first blooms, buds and bulbs that will be sprouting. For the little ones, there is an eye spy trail. Try and spot the fountain and other objects around the gardens. There's even a Christmas pudding trail!
Visitors can picnic on the lawns, relax under the trees and learn all about how plants have changed the world. The garden contains nearly 5,000 different plants and the river Cherwell runs along the side of the garden, making it a tranquil place to stop and relax.
You'll also find the Harcourt Arboretum which is over 130 acres of the world's rare trees. They run free tours too, where the staff share their thoughts and facts ans gives you an insight into the area.

Visitors are very welcome to bring picnics with them; there are plenty of benches. Oxford city centre also has a wide range of cafés and restaurants less than a ten minutes' walk from the Garden.
