About this activity

The Nature Discovery Centre is a great family day out. With amazing adventure playgrounds with lots of climbing, lakeside walks and interactive wildlife displays, there's something for everyone. Explore the interactive wildlife games and learn about the local wildlife and natural history of the lake and reedbeds through theur amazing displays. Fish tanks let you see what lives in the lake, so get as involved as you like!

The Nature Discovery Centre runs a programme of events throughout the year such as Wildlife Explorer Days where you can learn bush skills, reptile days, bird box making, arts and crafts to name but a few, so keep an eye on their wbesite for updates on this. They also run events for adults such as gardening master classes.

Throughout the year, one of their volunteers surveys the species of bird found on site. Visit their website for a list of birds that can be seen across the seasons and get spotting!

Dogs are welcome on the reserve, but please keep them out of the lake. They also ask that you keep dogs under close control at all times.

The Nature Discovery Centre is a short drive from Newbury town centre. If coming from the M4, take junction 12 and head towards Newbury along the A4. The Nature Discovery Centre is signposted from the A4. Thatcham train station is approximately 1.5 miles.
