About this activity

Stirling Castle is one of the grandest Scottish castles with beautiful scenery all around that will take your breath away! Discover how the Kings and Queens lived and learn all about the history of the castle with secrets around every corner.

Visit the magnificent banqueting hall which was the largest of its kind ever built in Scotland and was built around 1503. The Royal Palance allows you to step into royal life and imagine what life was like in the 1500s.

Visit the great kitchen and imagine how the busy kitchen staff prepared the royal banquets and visit the elegant chapel which was the last royal building to be erected at Stirling.

The castle has a number of exhibitions that tell the store. From the wars of independence to the royal chapel burials and the men who would be king, there's lots to discover.

The exhibitions are housed in the vaults that can be accessed via the Queen Anne Gardens.

The vaults are filled with lots of family-friendly interactive exhibitions. There's a musicians vault where you'll find out about the music and instruments of the 1500s, a painter vaults and a carvers vaults where you'll learn all about the tools and techniques used to create the stone carvings around the palance.

Make sure to visit the jesters vault too with jokes fit for kings and queens!
