About Hilbre Islands

Hilbre Islands is contained within the Dee Estuary on the north west coast of England. It's a site of special scientic interest and is a great day out with the whole family.

Hilbre Island attracts lots of people every weekend and it's a perfect coastal experience. Walk across the sands, take a trip on one of the walking routes and capture some amazing photos of the wildlife and views across the shoreline. You may even spot the famous Hilbre Island Grey Seals.

The seals are usually on the far side of the island by the walkway and once the tide is coming in, you should be able to find them in the water!

There are no public toilets, shops or water on the island, so make sure to come prepared! The islands are surrounded by the tide roughly up to six hours twice a day, but weather can impact the patterns. Always plan ahead and check the tide times before you visit!

Make sure to wear sensible footwear and plan your visit before you arrive.
