Norwich Cathedral is a sacred space in the heart of Norwich and for more than 900 years the spire has risen above the skyline! From the beginnings as a Benedictine monastery to it's role now as a modern day cathedral, there's so much history to discover here.
From exploring the architecture to enjoying a concern of an activity day, there's something for everyone! The soaring spire is 96metres high and is the second tallest in England! Discovery the beautiful Cloister which is the largest in the country and admire the masterpieces all around.
If you wanted to take a walk outside then you can explore The Close which is a 44acre site beside the cathedral. There's a mix of school buildings, homes and more which make up the space.
You can grab a picnic and sit outside and look up at the cathedral or stroll across Pulls Ferry which is a medieval watergate. There's lots of medieval gateways too for visitors to enter too.
You can learn more about the cathedral on a free tour. The experience guides bring the stories to life and they'll walk you around the site. They take place Monday - Saturday and start at the front and there's no need to book advance either!
Children aged five to eleven can also have a free explorer backpack, full of items that will help them engage including a torch, tape measure, mirror and pencils too!

Norwich Cathedral is located in the Cathedral Close in the centre of Norwich. On foot, the main entrance points to Cathedral Close are via Tombland, Bishopgate and from the Riverside Walk.
