Choo choo! All Aboard! It's time to catch a ride on the Nene Valley Railway, which also happens to be one of the UK’s leading international steam attraction. How coold is that!?
The base of Nene Valley Railway can be found at Wansford Station, and your trips can take you through a number of stations including Overton (for Ferry Meadows), Orton Mere, Yarwell Junction, and Peterborough.
Nene Valley Railway is actually a living heritage railway that is run by a loyal band of volunteers, making it a thriving attraction for the families just like yours to enjoy all year round.
It's on Nene Valley Railway that kids can have the chance to experience the thrill of riding a steam engine, in real life! They can learn all about the railway’s history, as well as explore the picturesque surroundings of the Nene Valley area! (So don't forget your camera!)
Don't forget to check out the Garden railway that operates on some running days along with the model railway.
Also keep an eye out for the signal box which was originally built with 60 levers, and is actually one of the largest preserved signal boxes in its original location!

To Wansford Station:
Turn off the A1 at the Stibbington fly over, which is 1 mile south of the A1 / A47 interchange and 4 miles north of the end of the A1(M). Look for the large brown "Nene Valley Railway" signs on both the A1 and A47.

The Turntable Cafe isn't always open daily, so check ahead but when it is open you can pick up drinks, snacks including sausage rolls, and even a Full English!
Some of the trains too have a Buffet Car, where you can pick up light refreshments and drinks
They are very happy to welcome your furry family member on board the Standard Travel Trains, so they don't miss out on your
family day out!
Each dog must have a ticket to travel on board. £2 per dog
Stop by the Wansford Gift Shop which opens 1 hr before first train departs. They've got gifts for all ages, from Harry Potter, Dad’s Army to Thomas, Flamingo mugs to floral note books, a beautiful range of vintage style games and board games plus a large variety of mugs to suit the train enthusiasts!
The picnic area at Wansford is open all year round. Sitting at one of the picnic tables here you can watch the signalman operating the box at Wansford while the trains pass over the river, bridge and viaduct.
There is a limited area opposite the station building for disabled badge holders which is not time limited.
They also offer Pacer/Railcar fares, and also provide a number of other ticket types for shorter trips
