About this activity

Newark Air Museum is on the former World War Two airfield of Winthorpe in eastern Nottinghamshire! There's plenty to see and explore; its diverse collection of 75 aircraft and cockpit sections cover the history of aviation. The aircraft on display include 10 National Benchmark aircraft, 29 Significant aircraft and 18 Noteworthy aircraft as listed in the National Aviation Heritage Register! More than half of the aircraft are now displayed inside two aircraft display halls. So what are you waiting for? Head on down to learn something new and have fun with friends and family.


In addition, the aircraft the museum displays a diverse display of aviation artefacts and a collection of more than thirty aero engines.  Check out their website for special events running, as they host a range of extra cool stuff throughout the year.

The Newark Air Museum is located two miles north east of Newark on Trent partially on the Winthorpe Showground; you can download a map from the museum website. For people travelling from the A1 and A46 routes, follow the A46 signs north towards Lincoln and then take the right turn off the dual carriageway at the A1133 / Drove Lane roundabout and follow the brown and white air museum signs.

They have baby changing facilities and milk warming can be undertaken upon request.

The Newark Air Museum Cafe offers reasonably priced food; choose from a selection of Toasties, Panini's, snacks, sandwiches and hot or cold drinks.

Always call before you visit if you hope to look inside the aircraft.

The Newark Air Museum Shop stocks a large range of specialist aviation kits, books and DVDs and has a good range of pocket money priced goods for the younger enthusiast.

It's the perfect place to visit for a fun and educational trip.

The museum is accessible to wheel chair users with level access across the site. Due to former airfield location some aircraft are displayed in grassed locations and some of the larger aircraft that are occasionally open to the public do not have wheelchair access.
