Fineshade Wood is a fantastic day out for families and wildlife lovers alike. There are lots of places to explore, cycle round and play in. You can build dens, learn fieldcraft skills to get closer to anims without being seen, make conker shampoo and have a mini-beast hunt all for free! If you're really adventurous after this, visit their Tree House play area tucked away in the wood. Next to the visitor centre is also the Oak Leaf play area suitable for toddlers upwards and two permanent junior orienteering courses are available on site with maps and instructions downloadable on the website.

There are three stunning marked walking trails, one of which includes the wildlife hide and is all-ability. There is a family cycle trail and some blue grade taster loops to help the kids master something a bit more challenging. There is plenty of seating within the play area, so that parents and grandparents can grab a few moments rest. This includes a large picnic area opposite so feel free to bring your own food for after your adventure!

Throughout the year fun events and activities such as introduction to bushcraft and campfire cookery are run, so don't miss out and please check the website for details on this.
