Your journey through Leicester Guildhall should start with its Great Hall built around 1390, before journeying through the centuries and learning all about the many uses of the site.

Kids can learn all about how Leicester Guildhall started off as a meeting place for the Guild of Corpus Christi, before becoming to a public performance space where even Shakespeare himself may have acted!

The guildhall was also once home of one of the oldest public libraries, as well as becoming the town hall and even a police station at one point!

Today, Leicester Guildhall is a fascinating insight into history, and the home to the Medieval Leicester galleries. The whole family can walk the streets of medieval Leicester and uncover a world both similiar and very different to our own! 

To help mark the re-interment of King Richard III, the new Medieval Galleries were opened, so don't miss out exploring those.
