Kids, are you ready to discover all the amazing, wonderful and unbelievable things that our Solar System, Universe and beyond holds!?
At the National Space Centre the whol family can explore six galleries and learn all about space travel, fun facts about the Universe and so much more!
Kids can see the iconic Rocket Tower as well as the UK’s largest domed planetarium (very impressive!), all crammed full of space suits, rockets, satellites and meteorites.
Maybe you might be inspired to be an astronaut afterwards!
As you approach the National Space Centre, you can't miss the 42m high Rocket Tower as you arrive.
Once inside, you can take a tour around the Into Space exhibit and come face to face with actual spacesuits, stories of astronauts, and start your own journey into space!
You'll walk through a mock up of the actual Columbus Module from the International Space Station, as well as discover the answer behind the most asked question asked at the National Space Centre. Can you guess what that is? What if we told you it was "how do you go to the toilet in space?" Any guesses?
It's not just families who have visited the National Space Centre - many astronauts have too! Buzz Aldrin himself visited (he was part of the Apollo 11 team who actually landed on the moon!).
If you wnt to know more about the planets in our Solar System, make sure you walk through the gallery and stop off at Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. What's also fun is that you can take time out of your day to drive a Martian rover on the red planet, AND take a bath with Saturn before seeing Venus in 3D!
An amazingly out of this world family day out for all ages at the National Space Centre!
By car, the National Space Centre is located just off the A6, two miles north of Leicester City Centre, midway between Leicester’s inner and outer ring roads.
Brown road signs with a distinctive rocket logo will direct you from the arterial routes around Leicester.

Stop by Boosters Cafe to fill those rumbling tummies. Here you can find freshly made and locally sourced sandwiches and snacks, plus hot and cold drinks. The chef even makes fresh soup everyday. They serve high quality “diner” fare, including warm nachos with fresh chilli, cheese and salsa, as well as gourmet hot dogs.
Keep an eye on "what's on" so you can see what upcoming events and exhibits they might be hosting - they aren't always permanent so you won't want to miss out!
The gift shop is well worth a visit, as here you can pick up a range of gifts, books, toys and exclusive National Space Centre merchandise!
As a Space themed Science and Education Centre, visiting school groups access their Education Programmes and the exhibition during most term time weekdays. Amazing! If you are planning a visit weekdays during term time and you would like to avoid their busier days, they can help you to find out which days are likely to be quieter
There are healthy options in the cafe including salads
Disabled visitors are able to purchase concession tickets and they offer a free ticket to a carer where one is needed to access the Centre.
