About this activity

At West Lodge Rural Centre in Northamptonshire, children of all ages can meet and learn about their range of farm animals, as well as feeding them and taking part in lambing.

Enjoy handling the fluffy young chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs in Cuddle Corner and laugh at the antics of the pygmy goats on Goat Mountain! Also, you can feed the ducks, groom a pony, watch and get involved in the ever popular sheep race! There is plenty to see and do under cover too, as they have mini golf and a good variety of penned animals on display in their barns.

Furthermore, walk one of the many nature trails, from quarter of a mile to three and a half, taking you through their conservation award winning woods, meadows, streams and ponds! Enjoy  the diversity of wildlife on the way and if you look up you may see skylarks, lapwings and raptors or a red kite. Closer to the ground look out for deer, hares, wild rabbits, foxes, badgers, and voles. If you're feeling exta adventurous, go pony riding or visit the adventure playground; the retro 5 seater swing is a must for the whole family!

The Barrel Ride is another favourite on the farm, as children love the double circuit of the outdoor play area and being driven past Donald the Sleepy Dragon! The barrel ride runs every hour and is free to everyone. You can go on as many times as you like! This is best when followed by the ride on tractor park, which suitable for toddlers upwards.

And as if all that wasn't enough, the old grain adventure barn has bridges, tunnels, climbing wall and slides to keep your children amused for hours. There is also a designated fenced off area for pre walkers with an interactive “pond” (lights, not water) and minature climbing house with slide. So what are you waiting for? It's time to visit the West Lodge rural centre for fun and educational family time.
