About this activity

One of the most remarkable discoveries in British history in recent times was King Richard III unearthed from a local car park. The last to die in battle, yet the first to be DNA tested, all unfolded in front of our eyes and now YOU can visit the very spot it happened, and learn all about this iconic British monarch at the King Richard III Visitor Centre.

Today, you can visit King Richard III’s grave as well as deep dive into the award-winning exhibition all about his life, death and one of the greatest archaeological detective stories ever told.

Kids can really enjoy learning as they immerse themselves in the rich story-telling and cutting-edge interactives all about Richard III’s life, death and science behind his remarkable re-discovery.

The inter-active displays within the Visitor Centre tell the story of how this once Duke of Gloucester then became King of England and Lord of Ireland.

There are also many fun activities for kids too! They can turn detective and travel back in time as they uncover the plot lines, as well as birth rights, family connections and quarrels that all combined to create an intricate story of medieval murder, mystery and mayhem (which sounds fascinating!)

They can also unravel the facts about the infamous Wars of The Roses, and learn how Richard rose to power to  become the Last Plantagenet King, and even decide for yourselves what really happened to those disappearing Princes in the Tower.

A fascinating expeirence for history lovers and families, where history comes to life and archaeology impresses!
