Castle Rising Castle is one of the most famous 12th Century castles in England. The stone keep was built in 1140 AD and with the huge surrounding earthworks, it makes it a national importance. Come and discover the history!
The castle is surrounded by 20 acres of earthworks and was passed to the Howard family in 1544 and still remains in their hands today! In it's time, the castle has served as a hunting lodge, royal residence and much more and was the most famous during Queen Isabella played her part in the murder of her husband Edward II.
Throughout the year the caslte had lots of exciting events. They bring history alive with iazzling displays of swordmanships, archery and more. Check out the website to see what's happening when and where before you visit.
Within the inner bailey you'll find the remains of an early Norman Church. Discovered in the 19th century, it's the earliest building within the site, dating even the castle itself!

By Car:
From London, take the M11 and then the A14 east to join the A47
From Cambridge, take the A10 north to King's Lynn, then follow the signs for Castle Rising.
By Train:
Take a train to King's Lynn station and then take a taxi to Castle Rising.
By Bus:
Take a bus to King's Lynn and then take a taxi to Castle Rising.
