Where are we going today?

The Witte Museum is a fascinating San Antonio museum where you can explore all things science, natural history, and of course - South Texas heritage (after all, you are in South Texas!)

There are a number of permanent and travelling exhibits which are aimed specifically at families, so you can explore, learn, and have fun!

How about learning all about the human body? The H-E-B Body Adventure is a revolutionary experience with four floors of interactive adventure s- no matter what your age! You can even examine a life-size human body!

This area was created by the University Health System, so they also explore food - and how exciting if you can participate in a live cooking demonstration! There are also culinary nights that you can join in, AND kids summer camps all about food!

How about some history! Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to live in South Texas in the 1800s? The Log Cabins and Historical Homes lets you explore a number of log cabins that were actually brought in from around Texas. How different is it from your house you live in today? Pretty different we might imagine!

You can learn about cowboys and outlaws, or you can learn about the 300,000 artifacts they have from the art world.

There are changing exhibits too, so there will always be something new for you to explore on your next visit.

Get ready for a family day of learning, fun and imagination!

I thought this museum was pretty nice, especially when compared to the Children's Museum downtown. The exhibits were very interesting. We enjoyed the short films, dinosaurs, mummies, and especially all the activities for the kids. Well worth the visit!

My family and I visited The Witte Museum on a weekend getaway from Houston to see the Darwin exhibit and the other facilities. We were pleasantly surprised at what a nice Sunday afternoon we had here and the Darwin exhibit was fascinating. The mixed media used in the exhibit was a nice surprise with a vast collection of animal skeletons and some live animals as well. This was really a nice exhibit without being too overwhelming when you are accompanied by a 4 yr. old. The films were nice and the collection of orchids was really beautiful. I do not...Read More

I had gone here in 2011. I absolutely loved it. So I took my mom today but was surprised to find there was a construction going on but still I had to pay the full price. Then when I went inside 95% was closed, only just a half a floor Texas oil thing and HEB body adventure for kids was open.. Just that.. All the main hall, dinosaur bones, old indian relics, wildlife everything is closed for 2 yrs.. 2 YEARS!!!!

Pls do not ever go here again for next 2 years!!!! please!!!!!!!!!

I do not understand the other reviews of this museum but we did come on the day before school started, so we did not run into too many crowds. The interactive skits with the actors at the museum were fabulous and educational. The museum was well kept and clean and the price of admission is reasonable. We picked up a $2 off coupon at our hotel which included with the Darwin exhibit totaled a pleasant $30 compared to The Houston Museum of Natural Sciences total cost of $15 for just the exhibit halls and $27 for the one ticket to a visiting exhibition.
I enjoy the HMNS; however, the Witte Museum was a nice surprise on a lazy Sunday afternoon for my family and I. We arrived at opening and did not even get to see the whole upstairs facility. It is a nice museum and very friendly staff.
Maybe the time of day and day you attend the museum should be timed with any school field trips. This place was really nice for my child and my husband and I. We really enjoyed the Treehouse and the Ranching exhibit. It was really nice.
The pricing was not that bad versus other museums in the area and compared to Houston, this museum was a nice change of pace.
We really enjoyed the entire experience and I am sure your family will as well. We will come back when we are in the area.
