Went for their highly publicized Octoberfest last week after seeing ads showing good beer, food and fun. The reality... It was absolutely pitiful. There were 5 people in the bar and two homely barmaids that were pathetic at any sort of service. The beer section was mostly garbage and the food was hot plate kept and bland. They wanted $14.95 for a PLASTIC boot to drink from, with $7.00 refills!!! Outrageous! The dining room with the show had about 30 mostly elderly folks with a trio playing country music, not traditional oompah. The resort...Read More

This is a great place to go. I cannot count how many times my grandson and I have visited Ober. If you believe the negative posters you will miss out on a lot of fun. Ober Gatlinburg is open year round and you can ski at the only ski resort in Tennessee from December to about March or April. Great place. Check it out.

This place is a joke. facilities are sub par and stuck in the 70s. Employees are hardly welcoming and even misleading. You pay for every activity separately even though they tell you that everything is provided in an all day pass. would not recommend.

    Wow what a nightmare.

First, the animal exhibit is a complete joke and you just end up feeling horrible for the poor beasts that live there. $7 bucks per person to feel bad for bears and otters, what a waste.

Next, the place has not been updated in the past 20 years. It is just as run down as ever and still just as expensive for pretty much nothing.

Save yourself the money and just go up the mountain in your car, you'll be happy you did.

Take my advice. Go somewhere else! The lines will be shorter for me!

The dining room with the show had about 30 mostly elderly folks with a trio playing country music, not traditional oompah. The resort looks the same as any run down little ski hill in the East that's 30 years past it's prime. Great setting for an early 80's ski comedy movie. The only saving grace was the tram ride up and down and we were lucky to have free passes for that. Perhaps you'll be entertained if you haven't been out much since 1982.
