What is there to do?

How about a family day out trip to a fascinating museum, but with a difference? We're talking about the Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge!

Yes, that's right. An entire museum dedicated to some of the most infamous criminals and crime events in history, and kids can visit too!

More suited towards older kids, this architecture of this unique museum combines Alcatraz in San Francisco, as well as the ornate Tennessee State Prison.

Here, kids can explore American history from a different perspective as they make their way through the five unique galleries that delve into the stories of high profile criminal, as well as victim's stories, the penal system, crime prevention, and even forensic science and the current justice system!

A whopping 25,000 sq ft, Alcatraz East Crime Museum covers two floors, and features over 100 interactives!

You can journey through the history of American crime, from pirates, the Wild West, to even modern crime including O J Simpson!

There are exhibits that cover the consequences of crime, and also the challenging investigation process that law enforcement face.

What's great for kids throughout the museum are the fun hands-on exhibits. They can try their hand at breaking into a locked safe, or see what it's like to be part of a police line-up, or be part of a "heist" laser challenge!

A fun, unique and memorable family day out in a very unusual Tennessee museum, where kids might realize why it's a good thing that they do as they are told!

How much does it cost?

Adults: $24.95

Children: $14.95 (Ages 8 to 12)

Free Under: 7 years

Any top tips?

2 to 3 hours is a good amount of time to allow for all the exhibits. If you love “all things crime” you could spend all day there!

I’m Hungry!

They sell drinks and snacks, but they do not have an eating facility in the Museum. Fortunately they are at the Island so there are plenty of places within walking distance to grab your last meal. - Fun things to do with kids and best places to visit in the US
