Priory Country Park is an established green area, of around 360 acres and is made up of lakes, meadows and woodlands which is enclosed within a bend in the River Great Ouse. It's a great chance for the whole family to get outsite and enjoy nature!
At the park there are habitats from meadows to reed beds, quiet walks, fishing, boating and play areas for the kids to enjoy. It's also a County Wildlife Site, so certain areas of the park are left undistrubed for the ebenfits of the wildlife. The park has also been award a Gree Flag too!
At the park you can take part in some water sports. There are paddle sports such as canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. There are portage points giving you access to the river upstream and downstream of Cardington lock. You can even padde upstream to Bedford tower centre and downstream to Willington and beyond.
The park is also home to the sailing club and is open to members throughout the week. Guests can purchase day tickets for weekends if you want to try something new!
If you're in need of a bite t eat, check out the cafe which has some tasty snacks and drinks and excellent views across the park.
Barkers Lane Car Park – The main car park for visitors to the Country Park, located off Barkers Lane, Bedford, MK41 9DJ.
Cardington Mill Car Park - Parking is available at Cardington mill car park and provides easy access to the water. Cardington Mill is located off Stannard Way, Bedford, MK44 3RZ.
