Newton Old Town Hall is a quiet backwater with a medieval past and bursting wildlife and a town hall, but guess what, with no town! there's lots of things to do with the family here.
There are secluded creeks and waterways, with a natural harbour filled with native and visiting birds. It's one of the best sites on the island for birdwatching! There are flower-filled meadows and acient woodlands with rare butterflies and quirrels and a quirky 17th century building which is the only remaining evidence of Newtown's former importance.
They have lots of events for families. Every year they have a Netown Randy-O where you can test your balancing skills, play archery and fairground type games inspired by the past.
It's a really great place to explore on foot, through woods, meadows and more. Many of the paths are flat and easy to walk along, but can become a little muddy! There are bird hides around the park, allowing you to see them up close, just be quiet.
You can also take to the water on paddleboards and canoes if you wanted to explore on water. Just make sure to follow their guide on how to safely enjoy the activities without disturbing the wildlife!
Newtown is in the north of the Isle of Wight, and reached by minor roads off the main A3054 road between Newport and Yarmouth.
