The real houses in Shanklin were measured and photographed for accurate production and the Godshill section was opened in the 1970s and both displays represent life in the 1930s. People are frozen in time too!
Some of the buildings are painted and other just left to the elements of the water! They even use the straw from local thatchers too. The little people are created by Helen Egleton and has evolved over the years and are brought to life in clay!
Each person is cast in resin so they survive the weather and then they are painted before adding the details to give them a realistic impression.
They also have fabulous gardens and trees behind the stonewall and is a peaceful place to relax! Over the past thirty years, they've build up a huge collection of trees, with over 3,000 in total! The garden provides a landscape to the model village.and it's the perfect place to sit and relax!
