All the family will enjoy a wonderful day out at Almond Valley Heritage Trust and there's lots of fields, woods, parks and more to explore too! There's a huge variety of imaginative play spaces and lots to do no matter what the weather is like!
You'll find the Livingston Mill Farm which is at the heart of the valley and there's lots of popular farm animals here too! You'll be able to meet the animals up close, from the big horses to the tiny mouses.
There's plenty of talks and demonstrations throughout the day too where you'll find out lots of information about the special residents of the farm.
There is also the Shale Oil Museum on site and you'll discover fossils of strange creatures, venture down a mine tunnel and admire the big machines and delicate models that tell the story of how shale oil was made.
Learn about the families who serve the industry and discove the relics of the industry.
Throughout the park there are a number of play areas for the children to let off some steam! There is a giant bouncing pillow, trampolines and pedal go karts that will take you through the woods.
There are are also sledges and tractors where children can pretend to be farmers. There's also swings, frames and tunnels that the children can navigate through too!
Many of the play spaces are sheltered so it doesn't matter what the weather is like!
If the weather takes a nasty turn, there are lots of workshops and activities inside the museum. Create and make some crafts, solve puzzles and play games for fun for all ages!
Two miles from junction 3 of the M8, the main Edinburgh to Glasgow motorway. Just follow the brown tourist signs for “Almond Valley Heritage Centre”.

Please don't feed the animals!
There are a limited number of blue badge parking spaces at the entrance to the main building, and there is level access into the main reception building through doors that are 900mm wide. All other buildings on site are on a single level and are fully accessible, other than a small cellar in the watermill, most of which can be viewed from outside.
