Maidstone Museum and Bentlif Gallery has everything you need for an educational and fun day out! Whether you're looking to learn about the dinosaurs in the museum or examine the oil paintings in the gallery, there's lots to explore and experience as you travel back in time.
The museum is open all year round and is based in an Elizabethan mansion and there are over 600,000 artefacts to explore which is one of the largest collections outside of London.
From discovering the artefacts of Ancient Egypt, Anglo Saxon jewellery, costumes and textiles from the ages or fine and decorative art, there's lots to learn around every corner!
The museum also has a number of temporary exhibitions throughout the year that cover a variety of topics, from costume displays, photography, traditional art and more and there's always something to keep the children entertained with activities that complement the displays.
If you wanted a guided tour, then the museum offers talks and tours to learn more about the history and origins with a behind the scenes look into the storerooms and more!

Exit the M20 at Junction 6 and follow signs towards Maidstone town centre and Maidstone East train station. Continue by following the brown heritage signs to Maidstone Museum. Pay and display car parking is available the Fremlin Walk multi-storey car park, which is located opposite the museum, and a limited number of disabled parking spaces are available on Station Road along the walled edge of Brenchley Gardens.

Maidstone Museum and Bentlif Art Gallery has a brand new café with a selection of locally sourced, freshly prepared hot and cold beverages.
Gifts and historical souvenirs relating to Romans, Egyptians, Victorians, WWI, WWII. Fossils, dinosaurs, pocket money items, books, postcards, local souvenirs of Kent and the Royal West Kent Regiment.
School workshops available
Access via a lift to the first floor offers access to the temporary exhibition areas, art gallery, Japanese gallery, Archaeology/Anglo-Saxon gallery, the Explorers gallery and the Glass Room. Wheelchair and buggy accessible toilets are also available on the upper floor.
