Sulgrave Manor is a historical house built by the Tudor ancestors of George Washington. It's steeped in history with a legacy that unites nations, with stories around every corner.
Discover the origins of the Washington family wealth, how they crossed the Atlantic when their fotunes faded and about the man behind the myth. Theres lots of exhibitions here too. Get up close to some of George's personal belongings, including his velvet frock!
The house tells the stories of the people who lived in it through the centuries and you can get hands on by playing some of the board games in the Great Hall and even dress up as a Tudor and grind some spices in the kitchen.
There's also an area that showcases a selection of objexts that have been gifted to the manor over the years, including a piece of George Washington's hair! There's also antique furniture, textiles, domestic artefacts that tell the story of the house from its Tudor origins.
Take a walk in the gardens and discover the herbs, garden rooms and more. There's also a silent space set within the orchard if you need some peace and a chance to relax.
From the junction 11 of M40
At the roundabout at the top of the exit slip road, follow the signs for the A422 to Brackley. Pick up the brown Sulgrave Manor tourist signs at the next roundabout by taking the first exit onto the B4525

The shop, Courtyard Hall and toilets are fully accessible. The accessible toilet is situated in the North Courtyard. Sulgrave Manor is a rural site and as such some areas around the grounds are uneven. There are gravel paths around the site.
