Stourhead is a palladian house with a world-famous landscape garden to explore. It's one of the first paladian-style villas to be built in England and the gardens feature classical temples, trees and stunning views all around.
On arrival, make sure you pick up your explorer map from the visitor reception and you'll enjoy activities and games to help you discover the area and make the most of your visit.
There are plenty of walks around the garden to do throughout the seasons. In March the blossom trees fill the garden with shades of pink and there's around 150 varieties of apple, pear and cherry trees! They make for a perfect picture!
At the heart you'll find the lake, with a path alongside it to enjoy the views. The garden was developed in the early 18th century when classical inspiration was key and there's many architectural creations to find in here too!
There's lots to see inside the home and you'll find out why the Hoare family decided to make it their main residence too! As well, make sure to check out the website before you visit as they have lots of family friendly events and activities all year round to enjoy.
Please arrive at Stourhead via the main road network, following brown signs off A303 or the B3092 from Frome. The main carpark postcode is BA12 6QD.
