About this activity

Hever Castle and Gardens are just oozing with history!

During your visit to this incredibly important piece of UK's history, the whole family can experience 700 years of this history at the beautifully romantic double-moated 13th century castle, that was also once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn!

Kids, if you didn't know who Anne Boleyn was, after a visit to the castle you certainly will! She happened to be the second wife of the very famous Henry VIII, and she was also the Mother of the future Queen Elizabeth I.

So you could say she is an incredibly important part of British history!

During your time at Hever Castle and Gardens, the whole family can discover award-winning gardens all set in 125 acres of stunning grounds. The gardens are great to visit across all seasons too!

Hever Castle formed an unlikely backdrop to a series of turbulent events which changed the course of Britain’s history, monarchy and of course religion.

As you explore the castle, you can see stunning panelled rooms home to priceless fine furniture, ornate tapestries, and antiques, and very importantly what some consider ‘one of the best collections of Tudor portraits after the National Portrait Gallery’.

A highlight is to see the Book of Hours Room which features two prayer books once belonged to Anne Boleyn and actually features her inscriptions and signature.

Hever Castle is what every child wants a castle to be! It's incredible, grand, ornate, it has a moat and yes, it's haunted!

With fun events across the year too, Hever Castle and Gardens is a family day out that will allow YOU to be part of its long running history!
