About this activity

All aboard! It's time to take a trip, and if you love trains, this might just be perfect for you! We are talking about the iconic Bluebell Railway which runs over 11 miles from Sheffield Park all the way to East Grinstead in Sussex, stopping at Horsted Keynes and Kingscote.

Taking you through some incredible countryside, the Bluebell Railway is an amazing experience for kids, and to really make the most of it you can pick up All Day Rover passes so you can enjoy unlimited flexible travel as you jump on and off at various stations!

Did you know that the volunteer-run Bluebell Railway was actually the UK’s first preserved standard gauge passenger railway? How cool is that?

After the re-opening of part of the Lewes to East Grinstead line of the old London Brighton & South Coast Railway back in 1960, the Bluebell Railway has since developed into one of the largest tourist attractions in Sussex. Even then, the railway remains true to the preservation of a country branch line, its steam locomotives, coaches and goods stock, signalling systems, stations and operating practices.

Kids, if you have ever dreamed of being an engine driver, the Bluebell Railway offer Footplate Taster experiences on selected dates, which is the perfect day for anyone who has ever dreamed of just that!

For more of a special and unique experience, the Bluebell Railway also run special dining events, such as Afternoon Teas and "Curry Trains" so you can tuck into some really delicious foods!

They even have really fun events such as Ice Skating at Sheffield Park, so there really is so much to enjoy with the family at the Bluebell Railway!

All aboard, the train is departing for FUN!
