Where are we going today?

The Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens was founded to keep the city at the forefront of environmental and ecological issues. A leader of environmentally sound community development, the Arboretum is an educational, recreational and cultural resource for the Kansas City region. About 85 percent of the property is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of natural ecosystems. The remaining portion includes traditional botanical gardens, the Environmental Education Visitors Center (EEVC) and maintenance facilities.

Every time I am at the arboretum, I'm amazed at all the people who volunteer to make this such a beautiful environment
The seasonal setting is lovely, and I went to see the luminaries this year. Wow, even beautiful in winter.
Statues are art. Appreciate them for what they portray.
The small charge is OK. It's reasonable to pay for this lovely experience.
Don't miss all this OPA has share.

I enjoyed my visit to the OP Arboretum. The grounds are well maintained, the volunteers are helpful, and the site offers gardens, wooded areas, a lake, a creek, hiking trails, walking paths, and a train garden.

The Arboretum is one of the hidden gems in Overland Park and the Kansas City metro area. Perfect for a quick jog or even a nature walk. It's a great area for photography. I will say this, though. Please contact the Arboretum offices, if you're planning on taking portraits there. There is a cost and times have to be reserved to do so.

If you haven't visited the Arboretum before, make sure you visit it soon.
