Annapolis, MD

Where are we going?

Annapolis Maritime Museum
723 Second Street

410 295 0104

What is there to do?

Not only can you learn about the fascinating maritime history of Annapolis and Chesapeake Bay when you visit the Annapolis Maritime Museum, but you can also spend the day IN history! That's right, because this popular Maryland museum is housed in the last surviving historic oyster-packing plant in the city.

This special setting allows all who visit to be engaged with an interactive experience that highlights the oyster, as well as it's role in shaping both the maritime culture AND history of Annapolis!

Today, there are around 10,000 objects, photos and archival documents that you can see up close, first hand, to learn about the fascinating past.

There are trained docents at the museum who offer FREE guided tours during operating hours, as well as guided tours at a small admission cost outside

Kids can see a historic 19th century cannon, learn about oyster harvesting, climb aboard a locally built deadrise workboat, and see how these boats were built and used for tonging oysters!

Not only can you enjoy an educational experience at Annapolis Maritime Museum, but you can also celebrate that special day by having your birthday party there too! Explore the nature trails and secluded shoreline of Back Creek Nature Park, and enjoy an adventure-filled party with fun hands-on activities too!

History AND family fun are waiting at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, so get ready to set sail kids, it's time to explore!
