About this activity

Sudbury Hall and Museum of Childhood are two totally different experiences sitting side by side! Take a journey of childhood through the ages or explore the historic country home of the vernon family.

Wander feely through the museum and explore how each space celebrates childhood and it's challenges across the centuries. Experience the realities of life for children who were employed through the ages. Venture down a Victorian mine tunnel and see what life was like working in domestic service.

Use giant 3D jigsaw pieces to create your own connections, crawl into the makers station and fit pieces together for other people to see!

See a bedroom on the ceiling and discover the dolls house which provides a mini scale insight into family life, learn also about the impact that the Second World War had on children in that era.

Head to the school area and discover what life was like in the Victoria era, from uniforms to dinners and punishment too!

There's also a huge amount fo toys too including the Betty Cadbury Collection and treasured mechanical toys. There's also a digital play zone where you can leap, dance and jump about and watch projections come alive on the wall! Don't forget to take photos too!As you can say cheese and have a photo with your face in the mirror artwork.

After the museum, why not explore and have a picnic in the garden? hunt for giant grasshoppers, build dens and get involved with all the activities.
