Southampton Common

Southampton Common is the largest of Southampton's open spaces and dates back to 1228! There's 365 acres of woodlands, grasslands, ponds, lakes and plenty of open space to explore in the centre of the city! 

The park hosts lots of informal leisure activities and large events throughout the year. The site is also home to a diverse number of habitats, with a variety of wildlife, so see what you can spot as you send your day here!

At the park, you'll find the Hawthorns Urban Wildlife Centre which provides lots of information about Southampton's wildlife and how they manage the open spaces. There is also an activity room at the centre and the grounds and wildlife garden can be views from the cafe terrace.  The cafe has lots of tasty treats, ice-creams and caks to enjoy. 

You'll also find a nature play area and water park which is a popular destination for children of all ages. The park has been designed to encourage adventurous play and has zip wires, climbing tower, swings, slides and more. 

There's also water spouts, pumps, wheels and more that the little ones will enjoy splashing around during the sunny weather!
