Take the M8 motorway west towards Greenock and Gourock.
From there, take a ferry to Dunoon (the Western Ferries service is recommended).
Follow the A83 road through the scenic Argyll countryside towards Campbeltown.
When you reach Campbeltown, follow the signs to Machrihanish on the B843.
The Observatory is located on the south side of Machrihanish, just off the B843.
