About this activity

A visit to the iconic Culzean Castle and Country Park means that you and your family get to spend the day in a glorious 260ha estate, that was once the incredible playground of a man named David Kennedy, who happened to be the 10th Earl of Cassillis, and he was also a man who liked to impress with his wealth and status!

When you see Culzean Castle, you will see why!

This incredible cliff-top masterpiece is part of a world of complete with woods, beautiful beaches, secret follies and play parks for those little ones!

The family can discover 40 buildings along with secret follies in the country park, including the magnificent cliff-top Culzean Castle.

A highlight is the Robert Adam’s Oval Staircase, which forms the dramatic centrepiece of the castle.

Make sure you spend time exploring the woods, as well as the parkland, beaches, Swan Pond, and even a deer park! There is even Adventure Cove and Wild Woodland play areas for those playful little ones.

For those in the family who love history, don't miss a chance to admire the enormous collection of flintlock pistols and military swords.

Culzean Castle itself is sat high on the Ayrshire cliffs, and was designed by Robert Adam in the late 18th century. You can see the impressive turrets filled with treasures, all telling the stories of those who lived in the property, and what their lives would have been like..

What's also special about the 120 hectares of mixed woodland, is that it's managed for wildlife conservation, as the rich diversity of habitats support a wide range of animal and plant life.
