Things to do for Active Kids
K1 Speed Addison
Where are we going today?
Imagine this - the engine is ready, your helmet is on, and you are about to take to the tracks. You must be at K1 Speed in Addision, Illinois - the premier electric karting track in the USA!
K1 Speed lets the family experience what it's like to be a champion racing driver, but in a very safe and eco-friendly way. That's what we love to hear!
The venue is designed as a large entertainment venue, with the track professionally designed to give you the most realistic experience that those F1 drivers would experience. For those little ones who are over 48", you can enjoy your own junior tracks and packages, which include medals, a score sheet and your very own podium photo!
Then, for those older racers you get your teen and adult packages. K1 Speed is also a great idea for birthday parties too!
Did you know that the indoor GoKarts are the fastest in the industry? Each of the karts have 20 horse power, and can reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. Don't worry parents - the junior karts get up to 20 miles per hour (that's still a rush though!)
When you arrive you'll go through a short safety briefing so you will know all about the kart and track rules, to ensure you have a fun and safe time. It's because of this that you don't need any prior racing experience! Just listen, and then drive.
On your marks....get set....and let's go....will you be no. 1!?

What people are saying?
We vacation in the area every year and have been there multiple times and seem to have issues there every time we go. This year was no exception. We got there on a weekday afternoon and were told there was a group who reserved the whole track for an hour. So we came back and there were only about 10 people there and we were told again that it would be about an hour till they could get us racing. I asked if they had also reserved the track but was told no. I asked if all ten are on the track now, how is it that we cannot get on to race until an hour...Read More

Went tonight and was surprised to see such high prices. $40 for 2 people to race once, Including an additional $6 per "Registration"? So $52 later we seated for our race. The cumbersome helmets, regulated speeds, and sharp turns are tolerable. The relentless flagging and shouting from the staff make the entire experience unenjoyable. After 10 minutes, constant flagging, and a strict "No Bumping" policy, we quickly left.
Dont waste your money, or your time. There's better places to experience for $50.

Had a great time here the other night playing games and racing the cars. I went on a Wednesday and it was darn near empty which was great. There are coupons on Yelp for $5 off and games are pretty reasonable at 50 cents to $1 each. The racing is actually more strenuous then you might think and you will sweat and you will mess up your hair as you have to wear a head cover and a helmet. Totally worth it!

I love it, it is a little costly but once I'm racing I don't care about the cost any more because it is a lot of fun. I like the competition, you're racing the fastest lap times against 4+ million other racers. At the end of the race you can see your status for each lap and the fastest lap of the week and the overall ranking in their system.

I asked if they had also reserved the track but was told no. I asked if all ten are on the track now, how is it that we cannot get on to race until an hour from now? No good answer was given just more of the same. So we came back later that night. We were able to get on and race however on our last race a small group of people who hadn't been there before raced with us. One gentleman who doesn't know how to race properly hit me at full speed TWICE while NOT BEING ABLE TO OBSERVE the yellow caution flag. At no point was he warned by staff or removed from the track for his reckless behavior. I understand that racing at high speed involves risk but at my home K-1 bumping numerous times gets you removed from the track. After the races I talked to the manager who apologized and said he would give us all a race on our account. Did he? Don't know.....he never really did anything on the computer just said he would and stood there. given that we run into this kind of lacks enforcement of their own rules and end up getting hurt (physically) because of it I don't strongly recommend this particular K-1.
