Explore the fascinating and rich history of early Fremont County and Wyoming at the Wind River Heritage Center, where they honor Wyoming wildlife and celebrate Western heritage!

Through wax figures, full body animal mounts, antique saddles, trap collections, 1900's era farm equipment, arrowhead collections and even Western artwork, the regions history comes to life and YOU can be a part of it!

Let's explore the wildlife museum first! Here, you can see 62 full body mounts, giving kids a chance to see some incredible animals up close. From big game, to trophy animals, animals that were used for their fur, and even fish, the beautiful animals of Wyoming are celebrated!

Have you ever seen a bear up close, or come face to face with a moose? You can here!

Be entertain and educated through museums of wax figures, full body animal mounts, trap collections, antique saddles, 1900’s-era farm equipment, a trapper’s cabin, arrowhead collections, and Western artwork. They offer patrons guided tours, films, living history reenactments, symposiums, a history book library, and programs year round.  27 historic scenes are captured via life-life wax figures of Native American, politicians, trappers, cowboys, and a whole slew of others who were influential in the region's development

Then you have the exhibits showcasing the rich heritage of the county and state, with that antique trap collection, as well as the farm equipment, and even a Trapper's Cabin! Kids, can you imagine what it must have been like to live and work in the region, over 100 years ago?
