Sierra Silver Mine Tour is the only tour of its kind in North America. A retired miner is your guide as you walk through the main drift of a real silver mine. Along the way he will demonstrate the operation of pneumatic powered mining machinery, while teaching you about the historical and modern methods of hard-rock mining, while you learn how we get silver out of the mountain and into your life. On the way to and from the mine, aboard our classic trolley, you'll enjoy a narrated tour of Historic Wallace, Idaho, 'The Silver Capital of the World.' The town in its entirety is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Take exit # 61 or 62 off Interstate 90 and follow the frontage road into Wallace. We are on the corner of 5th and Bank Streets.
There are no parking restrictions, parking is free on the street or in the near by lots.
Snack foods on site, restaurants within walking distance.
Don't forget your camera!
Idaho treasures and keepsakes, rocks and minerals
The information on our mine tour is technically and historically correct. Our guides have all worked in the local mines and provide first hand information. We will teach your students how we get silver out of the mountain and into their lives. On the short trip to and from the mine you'll enjoy a narrated trolley tour of Historic Wallace. Admission prices are greatly reduced for schools and children's activity groups.
