This is a fun time for the whole family. My kids, ages 6 and 8, had a great time. The tour guide (didn’t catch his name, but he is the guy on the far left in the picture on the main page of the website) was very friendly and knowledgeable. His family history is in mining and he himself was a miner. It’s well worth the trip if you’re in the Kelloge, ID area definitely stop in. After the tour you can do some gold panning which was a nice bonus and the kids loved it!

These folks love what they do, give a great tour and paint a good picture of the history of mining in the early years. Very friendly and informative – well worth the stop! It is a pleasure to see people doing what they love and really “digging” into the history of the area. Try your hand at gold panning for free and maybe strike it rich!!

We took our children, ages 8 and 3, when we were in town for their spring break. It was fun to learn more about the mine and the kids loved panning for gold.

Kids field trip. For my husband and I it was $18. The trout in the cave were huge! I expected the mine to be a lot bigger than it was.. Or longer. It was educational. The kids loved panning for gold which did come from a local mine that mines for garnets. There were many beautiful stones that we all took home that may not have monetary value, but marks our experience at the mine.
