For over 120 years, the Manitou and Pike's Peak Railway has taken passengers to the 14,115 foot summit of Pikes Peak. With guided tours along the way, wildlife sightings, and fun in the sun and snow, this is an educational and enjoyable trip for people of all ages! Open year round, this is one of the many fun family places to go if you're looking for things to do with kids in Colorado!
Take exit #141 (US 24) off I-25, go west (toward mountains) on US 24 four miles to Manitou Ave. (Manitou Springs) exit .
Go west on Manitou Ave. 1 1/2 miles to Ruxton Ave. THERE IS A ROUNDABOUT HERE. Turn left (Please notice the Mountain Man Shop which denotes RUXTON AVE.) and go to top of Ruxton Ave., three-quarters of a mile.

The Cog Wheel Cafe is located near the loading gates on the platform. They offer all sorts of delicious foods including hamburgers, brats, thai chicken wraps, and even spiced nuts!
The trip is 3 1/2 hours round trip, so be sure to make sure you have time for the trip!
It is generally 30 degrees cooler on the Summit so dress accordingly!
Bring water to drink on the train so the altitude doesn't effect you too much...but be careful, there are no restrooms on the train.
The Steamer Stop Shop is located near the loading gates on the platform. If you want an inexpensive souvenir to remember your train trip, or you forgot your sweatshirt for the cold temperatures up top, the Steamer Stop Shop has what you need!
Here at the Cog Railway, we do offer a school-group discount for field trips! Please call as far in advance as possible to reserve seats! The price is $19.00 for adults and $9.50 for children under 12 years old!

The Cog Railway Depot is located just outside of downtown Manitou Springs. Several of our passengers love taking the train ride early in the morning so they can walk around Manitou Springs in the afternoon and have lunch or visit several of the local shops!
