About this activity

Who is ready to get out into the heart of cattle country, and visit a beautiful state park in Texas? You are? Great!

Let's head to Lake Mineral Wells State Park then. There is a fascinating history to the area, as well as great outdoor adventure to be had, so there is plenty of do on your family day out!

Only 45 minutes from Fort Worth, it doesn't take long to get out of the city and into beautiful nature - and if you are an outdoor loving family, there is certainly enough to keep you entertained!

For those who prefer the land, why not bring a bike down and take to the many trails (or those walking shoes are just as perfect if you want to go at a slower pace!) In fact, there are nearly 13 miles of park trails,, and 20 miles or Trailway which has a flatter grade.

If you have horses, there is plenty of space to enjoy some riding time, or kids can challenge themselves and try their hand at geocaching!

Kids who REALLY have a love for the outdoors, there is rock climbing to try out! It's such a great way for kids to build their strength and improve their fitness, and it's an incredible feeling when they realize they have actually made it to the top!

For those who love the water, Lake Mineral Wells State Park is perfect for you too! There is a 640 acre lake with a boat ramp, where you can bring your own boat or just rent one at the park. These include kayaks and canoes too.

Fishing is a popular activity too at the park, with crappie, sunfish and catfish all calling the waters home. You don't need a license, and they loan rods and reels so you are sorted!

Nature really is calling at the Lake Mineral Wells State Park!
