About this activity

Cedar Hill State Park is a great escape from that city life! It's a great place to get the kids out in that Texas sun, as well as giving them plenty of activities to keep them active!

Feel like relaxing? That's one of the most popular things to do! Why not relax by the lake, or under the shade of a huge tree?

Fancy some history? Then why not take a tour of an old Texas farm! You never know what you will learn! The Penn Farm Agricultural History Center was lived and worked on for over a century by the same family. There are self-guided tours where you can see how the farming has changed over the 100 years.

If it's adventure you want, then you can explore the rugged limestone hills and those rare pockets of prairie.

Cedar Hill State Park is the perfect place for the family to picnic, bike, hike, wildlife spot, geocache, or even camp.

The park is right on the shore of Joe Pool Lake, so there are plenty of opportunities to paddle, boat, fish or swim.

With 1,200 acres to enjoy, trails are the perfect way to enjoy them! The DORBA trail is the most popular, with amazing views that crisscross the park.

If you want to enjoy some time with a ranger, Cedar Hill State Park offer guided hikes, as well as nature programs and history programs. They even have outdoor skills workshops!

Who knew there was such nature just 20 miles from downtown Dallas!
