What is there to do?

Have you ever seen the painting American Gothic? Well, if you have, now you can see the actual house that inspired it!

The American Gothic House Center in Iowa is THE place to go to learn all about the life of artist Grant Wood, and see that real life inspiration behind the painting.

It's one of the most recognized paintings in the world!

Kids can learn about history, art and culture during their visit. The American Gothic House Center showcases the life of Grant Wood, as well as the history of that iconic house.

There are galleries and exhibits telling the story of his life, including artifacts from his life.

There are props available to encourage families to pose in front of the house and create their own unique portrait! How fun!

The house was actually build back in the late 1800s, and now it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places - pretty impressive! The painting was completed in 1930 and since then, the house has been an attraction for those interested in the world of art.

American Gothic House Center is also a great place for kids to study the architecture of the house too! It was those original gothic windows that were the focus of the painting, and also one of the original features of the house. What do you think of those iconic gothic windows!
