Whitmore Bay is located at Barry Island and is known for its vibrant beach huts and picture perfect golden sand and wide promenade.
The bay is a great chance to get outside with the family for a fun day out at the beach. It's attracted visitors since the 1870's due to it's golden beaches, cafes and family friendly amusements. The seafront offers a huge promenade along the length of the bay, with plenty of cafes and resturants too.
There are beach wheelchairs available to hire and vibrant beach huts too. For the kids, there is a climbing wall, adventure golf and beautiful landscaped gardens to walk around too. Nearby, there is the pleasure park which offers lots of thrillign rides for all ages.
There are lots of coastal walks in all directions. The Wales Coast Path goes through the Island around Nells Point and past the coastwatch centre. The other direction will take you around Friars Point for views across the Old Harbour an beyond.
