A visit to the National Museum Cardiff means a historic day out, an artistic day out, an educational day out and a FUN day out, learning about the history, the stories and the people who make the city of Cardiff what it is today!

A viist to the galleries on the ground floor means learning all about the evolution of Wales, as well the natural science of the area. 

On the first floor of the National Museuk Cardiff you’ll find the fantastic historic art galleries, and actually come face to face with works by some of the most amazing art masters from around the world, from Botticelli, to Richard Wilson and yes, even Rembrandt!

The National Museum Cardiff also run temporary exhibits, where you can engage in a range of amazing topics, and because they are temporary there is always something to go back to! One visit you might be learning all about the oceans, the next it might be all about botanical gardens and nature!

Don't miss visiting the first Thursday of every month, where you can enjoy Extra Time and see the museum in a whole different light!

The Museum is 20 minutes walk from Cardiff Central Bus and Train Station.

By car, take Junction 32 of the M4. For satnav use the post code CF10 3NP.

A Visitor Car Park is situated behind the Museum, off Museum Avenue. Visitors parking here will receive a ticket at the point of entry and need to pay £6.50 for the day at a pay-station located at the rear of the car park.

National Museum Cardiff FAQ’s

Pushchairs and prams are allowed in the Museum, but they can also be left in a buggy park in the Main Hall.

There is a restaurant that is open weekends and bank holidays, and the Museum cafe on the ground floor is perfect for drinks and snacks

Too much to carry? You can leave your buggy in our buggy part. We have lockers big enough for all your coats and bags. You’ll just need a £1 coin, which is refundable at the end of your visit.
Please note that children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Wheelchair access throughout including lifts. Four wheelchairs available on loan as well as portable stick stools.
Widespread use of video and sound in exhibitions (commentary and sound effects). BSL accompanied tours are available to booked groups.

There is a gift shop where you can pick up a host of great gifts and souvenirs, including fun things for kids and educational items like books!

Baby changing facilities are available.
Disabled toilets are situated in the Oriel Restaurant.

There is an accessible ramp. If the ramp is closed for any reason, wheelchair access can be made by following the signs on the bottom of the stairs
