About this activity

Weston Park Museum tells the stories of Sheffied and its people, from the past to present day! It originally opened in 1875 and has many visitors for nearly 150 years! 

From archaeological treasures to zoological wonders, there's so much to explore for the whole family to enjoy. There are changing exhibitions too, so there's always something new to see whenever you visit. The What On Earth display is a continuing display where you can explore the natural science showcase. You can see birds and insects in their natural habitat and watch the bird feeder with the telescope! 

Beneath your Feet digs deep into 50,000 years of Sheiffield history through over 500 objects. You'll explore Anglo-Saxon weapons and hidden Roman treasure as well as short films and interactive displays too. 

Learn all about Ancient Egypt too, from pyramids to mummies and you can also see two ornate coffins containing mummies! The Sheffield Stories exhibitions celebrates the fantastic city and the people. It looks at life from the 50s, 60s and 70s, exploring neighbourhoods and events that were lived through. 

At the museum, you'll explore unique stories from the city. From injured soldiers during the First World War to the 1864 Great Sheffield Flood. If you live in the city or visiting, it's a must visit for the whole family as you'll learn so much through the vast interactive exhibitions. 

Make sure to keep an eye on their events calendar! They have lots of exciting events all year round for the whole family to get involved in.

Weston Park Museum is situated on Western Bank, close to Sheffield's Children's Hospital. If you are driving to the museum, from the M1 leave at junction 33 and take the A57 to Sheffield.

Weston Park Museum is fully wheelchair accessible. All exhibitions and displays are on the ground floor of the building and the upstairs activity rooms are easily accessible via the lift.
