Kelham Island Museum celebrates 300 years of Sheffield history! From the making of the city, to craftsmen and mass production, experience the work during the Industrial Revolution and the Victorian era here at the museum. 

Here the roar of the River Don Engine, something not to be missed on your visit as it's the most powerful working steam engine in the whole of Europe! Spot the Sheffield Simplex Cars where only three remain, and two of them are there are the museum! They were once hailed as the highest point to which motor design has yet attained by The Times in 1913. 

Discover Die-Sinkers Workshop and visit Little Msters Street which was a netowrk of craftspeople working out of small workshops. You can see all the equipment and tools used too. 

There is a world-renowned tool collection from the 1950s too and includes tools, cutlery manufacturing and history of the silversmithing industry. Take a step back in time at 1916 terraced house. It has interactive and sensory displays which transport you into the city's past and you'll experience what home really means!

The museum is a must visit for the whole family, whether you're from Sheffield or visiting, as you'll get a glimpse into what Sheffield was like years ago.

The museum is surrounded by traditional cobbled paving, but a firm and level footpath has been installed over the cobbles from the main gate. This path conveniently links the car park to the main museum building, Brearley Room, Millowners Arms, accessible toilets and Island Café Bar.
