Crewkerne and District Museum highlights how ordinary local people lived and worked during various periods, through interesting interactive displays and exhibitions for the whole family to enjoy.
When you arrive, the staff at reception will show you the way to brosw the museum and you'll also find some souvenirs here too! The special exhibition room is regularly changed and there's alwas something new here with a local theme.
In the first gallery you'll find a grammar school and shoe shop display, so you can see what they were like years ago. In gallery two you'll find sailcloth and linen displays and gallery three shows an old kitchen with equipment and memories from years gone by.
In gallery four there is a Ralph Reader Display and photographs from local WW1 hero Fred Fox and Crewkerne architecture. The Andrews Room has photos and pictures of times gone by too.
The outside courtyard is the oldest part of the museum building and there's lots of other interesting artefacts on display here. You can sit and relax in the garden and take a moment within nature!

For young people they can offer specially planned projects which link to National Curriculum and offer an opportunity for hands on activities and visits to the galleries which bring history to life.
The Ground floor of the museum has no steps and is mostly flat throughout the building from the outside pavement giving easy access to Reception, the Special Exhibition room, Galleries 1, 2 and 3 and the outside courtyard.
