At Forde Abbey Historical House and Gardens there's plenty to do for the whole family, garden lovers and historians too! It's set within thirty acres and there's something around every corner.
Walk in the footsteps of the monks and step back in time with a range of things to do inside the house. There are pathways, trails and wide-open lawns to relax on too when the weather is nice!
Follow the trails around the garden to find the hidden boxes and stamps to mark on your trail map. It's based on the famous Dartmoor letterboxes and you may even win a prize at the end! Try and find as many wildflowers as you that come alive in the Summer months and follow the swirls and watch the butterflies and bees.
They have regular events all year round too! Make sure to check the website before you visit so you know what's happening.
Have a bite to eat in the coffee shop and pick up a souvenir in the gift shop which has some high quality gifts that make ideal presents!
Forde Abbey is situated 4 miles south east of Chard in Somerset. There are brown tourist signs for Forde Abbey from the A30, A358 and B3165. It is advised that you follow the brown tourist signs and not your satnav as you get close to Forde Abbey.

Unfortunately, the upstairs rooms in the house are not suitable for people in wheelchairs. However, visitors are able to view these rooms on the computerised slide-show set up in the Great Hall.
