The Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre within the gardens is the perfect place to begin your adventure. Here you can find a host of information on the botanic gardens themselves along with its attractions, as well as learn all about the Mt Coot-tha Reserve walking and bikeway trails plus where you can find the picnic areas throughout the precinct.
Brisbane City Council's Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha is where the whole family can immerse themselves in a living museum of native and exotic plant collections.
There is so much to see and learn, and it's great for kids and adults alike! You can find beautiful and facsinating themed sections including a fragrant garden, as well as a bamboo grove, arid zone. The Japanese Gardens are always popular with visitors, as are the waterfalls, tropical dome AND the largest collection of Australian native rainforest trees in the entire world!

The Auditorium also features horticultural shows most weekends, so make sure you check the schedule beforehand so you can prepare!
Also at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mount Coot-tha is the Queensland Herbarium, which is the centre for research and information on Queensland flora, vegetation and plant communities.
Did you know that the Herbarium staff are involved in the discovery as well as naming of around 30 newly discovered Queensland plant species each year? Pretty impressive!
In fact the Herbarium is home to around 830,000 preserved plant specimens in its collection. The species are mainly from Queensland and represent more than 245 years of history.
